A walled garden in the marina

Coffee under the bougainvillea, five minutes from the boats.

Espresso, toasted sandwiches, cold Sagres, juice squeezed while you wait. Shade all afternoon and nobody minding the noise.

At six the lights come on and the garden is ours.

Same walls, different room. Gin and tonics, a short menu, someone cooking at the back, and a quiz on the last Thursday of the month.

Why it works

One lease. Two rooms. Nothing new to build.

Until six the garden belongs to families, and that trade is worth keeping. After six the play park empties, the lights come on, and what is left is a private walled garden in a marina in the Algarve. Same rent, same bar, same hosts, completely different room.

The room

Walls, not a terrace

Every other bar on this marina faces the promenade. This one faces inward, under bougainvillea, and once you are in it feels like somebody's garden. A waterfront table cannot copy that.

People ask for you by name

Reviewers name the staff. Google's own keyword summary puts friendly staff ahead of beer, vibe and drinks. A better-funded bar can build a garden. It cannot hire the reason people came back.

The evenings exist

Quiz nights, pop-up suppers, a garden full of adults after dark. None of it is written down anywhere a stranger could find it. That is the only thing missing.

What you get

Prices shown are illustrative, chosen to make the idea concrete. The real number comes out of your margins and your seat count.

    What's on

    Supper nights.

You already run these. The Korean pork night was a poster stapled to a pergola post. Here is what the same night looks like once it has a page, a date and a seat count.
